Segmented Breastplate,
North Italian 1390's14-16g mild steel.
$550 USD
Breastplate only. Display items not included.
This breastplate was loosely based on an original from what is known as the "Churburg #13" harness. The etched brass trim from the historical piece was omitted at the customers request. I used inexpensive, mass produced buckles rather than hand made ones to help keep the finished price down a bit.
The 9 plates of this chest piece are attached to each other with internal leather "hinges." This allows for a range of comfortable sizing. The centre plate was made from 14g mild steel while the remainder of the plates are 16g.
I thought I would include a few pictures here to show what the breastplate looks like with other pieces of the same time period. The helm, shoulders and chainmail are not for sale. The arms can be seen separately here.
