17th century Turkish Helmet

Mild Steel.

Turkish soldier with and English Bill

My focus of study has been mainly on European armour. I had already been wanting to try making some Eastern armour when a friend of mine asked that I make a Turkish helmet. He is a member of a Turkish reenactment group that participates at some of the Southern California renaissance fairs. I truly enjoyed making this helmet as it was something completely different from my normal orders. The design was very lightly researched and as such I am sure there a number of historical inaccuracies. Yes, he is wielding an "English Bill" but we thought it looked good for the photo :)
